So I'm planning on going to look at a th350/205 combo tonight a guy has for sale. It has ~5000 on a rebuilt tranny and a 205 already hooked up to it.

Still trying to wrap my head around the different 205 options and wondering if certain ones are better/more desirable than others. Here is the picture of it.

Any thoughts on it?

Thanks!

People want too damn much money for their junk. $425 for a transmission and transfer case with a unknown status aside from what they say is too much. What happens if you purchase it and then something is wrong?

Your also going to need drive shafts changed as the lengths will be different.

I see guys selling 465/203, 465/205, and 465/208s up here for like $800 or more for a combo. Its absurd.

BUY IT and don't look back. I paid $300 for a 465/205 combo back in 1991 FWIW. I see the 350/205 going for $500 +. They are not as easy to find as they once were. Most people like the old style with the rear yoke as opposed to the slider style that you have pictured. I have the slider style myself and it has been fine for me.

It's getting that way down here in the states too.

I would rebuild the trans or have it rebuilt before I even thought about putting it in the truck. You don't know how long it has sat there on the floor. You can rebuild the 205 on the bench with minimal tools.

NP205 fixed rear yoke are more desirable than the slip yoke. Also racetrack pattern are a dime a dozen, you could try to leverage for $150. TH350 check the fluid and use its color and lack of fixed rear yoke on the tcase as price negotiation. $200 for the tcase and $200 for the trans if he has receipts to back his claims, otherwise $150 for trans. If he wont budge make sure he at least comes off a torque converter you can use for core charge and helps you load it.

It is a k case thats worth$ 200.00 alone even if the trans is broken they are getting hard to find. I changed my slip yoke to a fixed yoke. Another warning i have broken a sprag an input shaft in th 350s if the the trans is good i would buy it for 425 i paid 1800 to have my th 350 built with tci drum and 36 element sprag and hardened input shaft. And a big transmission cooler and labor
