I have seen substantially worse trucks sell for a lot more. You have done well.
I totally agree with you. I saw it and inquired about it the next day. It took a few months but then the student (whose grandparents owned it) approached me and said "grandma says you can get it for $300". I never flinched and told him that I would take it. Only upon the day of retrieval did I realize that it was a Silverado, the first year for that placard; but it also had most of the trim moldings, tailgate, hood ornament and tilt wheel with cruise- all in great shape. The bonus is when I was handed the title after loading it on the trailer.
It is in need of everything but as of now, I've put on some decent tires and fresh gas and am using it around the farm. The 283 is gutless (probably running on 50 octane gas/water) and the front driveshaft makes the "thunk-thunk" noise that all full-timer NP203 trucks do. But, I would much rather have it than not to. I've even had a few folks spot it and say that they have seen it sitting in the pasture where it was for a couple decades.
My son put it best on one of his videos. He said in his video that I had taken a truck that was parked for 20 years and put life back into it, and even put it back to work. He filmed the video while we were pulling the truck from a tremendous stuck that I put it in...several times. He has an '83 SB Stepside with CUCV axles and 38's and could winch me out easily.

Wow. If I was looking for a blazer, that might be a decent price these days.

Would you pay that for a □ ?

I bought this '78 k5 for $3900 about 4-5 years ago. It was a mess inside. I've done so much to it but kept the inside pretty bare. I can't tell you how many damn sunflower seeds, bullet shells and BB's were inside this thing. Along with mounds of his kids homework. The original engine a 350 was leaking oil from every place you can imagine, so the frame has a nice protectant on it, hahaha

A few when I bought it and a couple after shots

I have yet to post in this thread.
Max found this one on Craigslist and they had it listed for $2,250 I believe.
454, SM465, 3/4 ton, Silverado, Camper Special.
Runs, needs some work overall good condition.
It "needed a battery" was what was said to us, but it would run after it was jump started.

So on on July 4th of 2018 we went to look at it.
When we got there, we poured over the entire thing in their drive way and it needed a whole new exhaust as well.
One side was missing the tail pipe and the other was starting to let go at the muffler.
Plus it was dinky little 2 inch pipe from the manifolds all the way back.
That just would not do for the long term.

It looked pretty much like the photos but in those the owners skillfully missed the rust in the photos they sent.
So we started it up, hopped in and zipped off down the road on a test drive.
Everything worked like it should and so we turned around to start haggling with them.

It was on a horse farm and the PO's had not used it for much at all anymore so it just sat around.
My opening dollar amount was $1,500 due to the extra stuff we found it needed that was not disclosed.
Dude said his wife was in charge as it was her truck.
She returned with $1,750 and I denied that stating that it will need a totally new exhaust and those are about $500.
$1,500.
Would you do $1,600?
I have cash in my pocket. $1,500.

I bet ya can't guess what I paid for my truck.
These are from the day that it came home with us.

We have since put a bunch of stuff into the truck and it just runs and runs and runs.

Oh and that battery it was supposed to need.
Turned out to just need more than the occasional drive.
My son daily drove it all through high school with that battery.

Currentish photos.
Max done knocked a piece of trim off the bed and has yet to put it back...

The engine is much happier with its new bolt ons that have been bestowed upon it.
Before it had a hard time just trying to get it move out of its own way.
Now it will spin the tires by just pressing the pedal.

That’s a nice one! Worth asking price imo if it’s like it appears.

Bought a 1974 C10 Custom Deluxe a few weeks back for $2600. The last owner died from covid and it has been sitting. No rust, 87,000 original 2 owner miles. The rear brake drums still had the original copper lock washers on the outside. The 350 doesn't smoke, tick, leak and fires up within 2 cranks while standing outside and leaning into the drivers window. It actually idles and runs smoother than my late model 2500 6.0 Silverado.
I'll reupholster the houndstooth seat, replace the dashpad and carpet, change the fluids, tune it up, install new shocks and tires and repaint the original Greecian Bronze and hopefully resell it to a good home.

Nowhere is entirely safe, though I've lucked out most of the time, and only had to fix rockers and cab corner damage. '70s trucks seem to disentagrate in my area, and they don't even salt the roads here. The '80s trucks seem to hold up fine for the most part. Perhaps GM changed their metal surface treatment at some point.

1980 gmc k15 came with new tires and has good running 454 for $1500. Bought it from a guy I work with. Speed holes were free. In process of finding solid body parts for it.

1984 C10 long Ed my Christmas project present $2200, redid inside, found some good condition door panels and sprayed them with Herculiner, my Bondo dash same with a little silver glitter, put in vinyl flooring (have foot panels down so disregard my tape holding my wires in place), seat was good except the end on drivers side so stuff with foam and good duct tape with a vinyl seat cover cause it’s easier to slide over on lol
