same package as my 87 also, check it over for rust real good firewall, door jambs, floors, body mounts these locations are more difficult to replace and would use that to negotiate a lower price if they are rusted.

Thanks guys.

I’ve got him down to $3,000 on the rust. I didn’t check the body mounts but he is adamant that $3k is his bottom dollar price.

I bought a rusty truck once and ended up selling it. Ask yourself the following questions:

What will the purpose of this truck be? Farm/yard vehicle? Occasional parts/supply runs? Daily driver? Love it and want to restore and preserve it?
Do i care to stop the rust? If so...
Can I weld?
If not am I willing to buy the equipment and learn?
If not do I have the money and/or time to save the money to pay someone to correct the rust?

Rockers need work, door bottoms, wheel arches around the bed, looks like a cab corner too. The panels are cheap, the labor is not unless you have access to equipment to learn or already know how. I dont care if its running and driving, thats a $1500-2000 truck tops if the body mounts are good.

Dont want to come off like an ass, and I'm sorry if i did but Ive been burned by rust before and wouldnt want someone who likes these trucks to waste their time and money.

If you own a trailer and are feeling up to it I would show up with the trailer and $2000, see what he has to say then.

I appreciate the candid reply. I will see what I can do this weekend when I go back. Admittedly I do get a bit over eager when these hit the market since they are hard to find. The only other option in the area is a $1,800 1983 which has a ton of rust and no reverse.

I've been watching for them for about 4 months and am eager to get started.

4 months? Thats another bargaining chip if I ever heard one.

Bottom line is pay what youre comfortable paying but dont feel like its the last square on earth. There will be another one thats better and another thats worse. Easier said than done i know, i get antsy when looking at old cars too.

This is a shorty, they bring more money usually. For some reason they are more desirable, and it has hydraboost!!!! At that price you got wiggle room to educate your self in metal repair opposed to the $3500 truck.

I would be more into this as an option if the best price for an installed transmission wasn't $1,200.

If it has hydraboost does that make this a 3/4 ton? He said its a K10

People like the look of shorties more than LB, it also has power windows usually an indicator of a higher optioned truck. My Silverado packaged truck doesnt have them but it does have air and a 700r4 transmission.

No. It was swapped in more then likely. Or was diesel or the cab came from a diesel truck. I swapped it into my V10 from a 1 ton. What trans is 1200? But you still aren’t at 3500. And you have a more desirable truck.

I know the shorty thing I’d rather have a long bed not a purse carrier lol

could have been a diesel originally and converted to gas.
