Hello everyone I was wondering if any one has done a 14 bolt swap on late 80s half ton I have an 87 gmc that I am in the final stages of having the swap complete and now ran in to my rear u joint not fitting correctly. the Width is fine but the caps are too small in diameter if every knows of a different u joint or I have to change my yoke or drive line thanks.

I recently removed a 10 bolt axle from a 1983 K10, swapped in a 1987 14 bolt semi-float. Used the factory K10 drive shaft and u joints, no mods needed.

I suspect you may be swapping in a 14 bolt Floating axle. Should that be the case, I have heard that a "conversion" u joint may be needed. The following sticky may help: http://www.gmsquarebody.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1637 .
