i have a bone stock 84 Jimmy with a 700R4 & NP208 i belive. the problem is that when i meke a quick stop like for a light the car goes into like a nuetral gear and I have to turn engine off shift transfer case from 2hi to 4hi than back to 2hi start it up and it drives. does anybody now the cause and cure for this problem. thx

thanks mrmarty. i just pulled this out of the pasture. been sitting sence 2006. the 305 started and runs, but I have a fresh TPI stroked 383cid chevy that im thinking of installing. that we'll take care of the mounts.

Just curious, have you tried shifting it back and forth without shutting off the engine?

yes. but it grinds the park detent in the tranny. so by turning the engine off is how i stop the rotation in the tranny
