To PCV or not to PCV

Well, unless your engine uses a very old block with provisions for a road draft tube, then you need some way to evacuate the blow-by gases and moisture from the crankcase. That or change your oil ever few hundred miles, because it's gonna get contaminated.

The "PCV is bad" myth is right up there with the "160 t-stat is good" myth.

You can also have a problem with too much crankcase pressure
Causing rear main seal blow by. On my 69 Camaro , I had this
Blow your problem and changed my pcv to one with one that
Had no valve inside. This stopped the blow by. Also , on the
Pass valve Cover, you should have a breather cap that connects
To the air cleaner by a rubber hose. This draws fresh air from
The air cleaner to let the crankcase breathe fresh air and
Completes the cycle. Air in, air out. Use the pcv system.
