to customize or not?

I have a 1981 k2500...42k original... every nut and bolt... want to upgrade... is the truck worth more stock or upgraded?
Advice from this group would be most appreciated

It's hard to judge stuff like that. Generally speaking, upgrading an already nice truck usually doesn't add value. An upgrade to you may not be an upgrade to someone else. But if you plan to keep it and enjoy it, do the upgrades you want and don't worry about the value.

Exactly what @bucket said.....if you like it and enjoy it make it yours and don't worry about the "value added" aspect. If you're just in it to make a profit then spend as little money as possible and sell as-is IMO :)

Thinking about a small lift..new tires and wheels ..
Upgraded the dash which will cause me to lose the originality... remove smog from motor and or replace motor with hi pro... truck sat for 25 years

I think all those things are reasonable upgrades. I vote make it your own and do what you want with it

My thoughts exactly... I've had several buds tell me I'm nuts for going away from stock..
As long as bolt on ... I can always revert back to stock.
I plan on keeping the truck forever

That's how I've done my 87 burb so far. Everything I've done is 100% reversible where I can go back to origin pretty easily. Now, my 77 is a different story but that truck will never leave my ownership until I'm 6' in the dirt lol

yep..

Only took 1 1/2 years to find this truck... kinda picky
Looking for next project currently... looking for 53 chevy 3100... here goes another 1.5 years just looking... lol
