i had my carb and timing set but i was curious as to what it would effect would my gas mileage go up? Before i was getting about 7-8 mpg. And should i change the spark plugs now so that they wont be fouled?

You can get 20 mpg with a properly set up Q jet...whats your setup?

Timing alone can make a big difference. I've gained 5 mpg just by advancing the timing, but a lot of that was because some idiot had it set waaaay back.

I have caught many folks setting to atdc. Old next door neighbor with a cherry 55 Nomad comes to mind.
