Thinking about streamlining my tools.

It’s been a good one for sure. But impact technology has improved, and the dewalt I bought yesterday is 2/3’s the size of this one with similar specs.

I only use mine for removing wheels and small stuff. I only really got it for wheels and it was on sale cheap when lowes switched to crapsman.

Which one? I have a 1/2” impact wrench, and then I have a 1/4” impact driver as well.

I thought I’d continue to update the thread with my experiences. In addition to all the tools I’ve mentioned, I also have two different modular tool box sets. One is a husky connect system from Home Depot, and the second is the Klein modbox. The Klein is way overkill for my use, but it’s a quality product so I like it. I decided that I will keep my Metabo stuff and give it and the husky setup to my son for him to have in the future.

While I was compiling and organizing my stuff into the modbox, I was messing with the Metabo drill and 1/4 impact and I began having some trigger issues with both. The drill has some minimal use, and I don’t think I’ve ever used the impact driver. But the driver’s trigger only works about 80% of the time. It’s like there is a short in it. And the drill is similar, with about a 95% success rate. For the record, these tools were stored in my climate controlled basement since new and not abused in any way. I’m not sure what, if anything I can do since the warranty is likely expired. But if you’re looking at metabo HPT stuff, keep this in mind when you’re shopping.

The only experience I have with Metabo (previously Hitachi) is their corded grinders. And they kick ass. As for comfort, noise and durability, they blow all the other corded grinders out of the water. Including Milwaukee, which is one of the worst IMHO.

My Metabo cordless 1/4" driver and grinder are about 7 years old and they still kik asz.

We used to be a Metabo dealer here at my job and we put their stuff to the test in our shop for repairing our rental concrete forms. They took a hell of a beating.

Well, maybe I just got a dud set. Or, maybe they need to be used more. I’ve just always grabbed my Dewalt first. I used my new circ saw today just for a few minutes for a couple cuts, and it was smooth as butter. Much better blade visibility, and lighter than the kobalt I had.
