hello everyone. i am considering a project that is probably impossible. but if i can make it happen it will be what i consider the ultimate gift. i was talking to my dad the other day and asked him which truck was his favorite out of all that he had. he said it was a 79 c10 2wd lwb. white with blue in the middle. so now for the hard part......just say that i can somehow come up with the vin of that rig, what would be the best way to go about searching for his old truck? i would love to find it and get it back into shape and give it to him sometime.

any ideas?

It might be easier to run a carfax on it and find out where it is now. My friend can only do title that were in this state.

Yep, Carfax will NO go back that far, or that would be the best way. If you are 100% certain of the VIN, you got good info, start with a DMV record. IF it was junked in your state, they should have a record of when it got a junk or salvage title

Thanks mamu, its a 4.5/5 drop, 2.5in spindles with one round cut off of the springs and a flip in the back. I will drop another 1 or 2in in the back soon.

Is there a web site to check or do you have to call them?

IN OK, you have to go into the tag office, show ID, and fill out an affidivat and sign it. Reason being, they don't just give out the info for someone to do some mischevious activity, like find the address to a vehicle and then go steal it.
