Looks like I need to go junkyard shopping. Blew the transmission in my 77 C10. Can someone tell me what the LATEST year I can find a Chevy TH350 in? One place told me 1979. I think he was full of crap, but I don't know for sure.

Im not sure what year they stopped using them but I had an 86 c10 with one.

The 2wd th350s come with 3 different tail housing lengths, 6 , 9, 12 inch lengths. so be careful which one you grab or if you get the matching driveshaft it shouldn't be an issue. However between the different lengths of drive shaft, you get the 2 piece steady bearing shaft or the 1 piece shaft.

You have to be careful, he may literally be referring to the TH350, which stopped production and then switched to TH350C in the early 80's I believe. My 84' had the TH350C.

That's just what I've discovered after some research. 1979 was the last year for the 350 (1981 for a few 3/4 tons) and then it went to the 350C.

Why don't you look for a TH400. These were in production until at least the mid-90's.

And, in my experience, they bolt up to a 350 engine exactly as the TH350 does. The only modification you'd require is adding a detent (kickdown) switch.

It mounts on the gas pedal bracket. The wiring is simple (one wire in from the fuse block and one wire out to the tab on the LH side of the transmission).

They have a great reputation for durability and the J/Y's are full of them.
