Hopped in ol red the other night to go for a drive and didn't make it two miles before my temp gauge was showing red. Now before this I never even paid attention if it worked. It's a relatively new truck to me and I'm still getting to know it. So I drive back to the house and park it. I went back yesterday to mess with it and immediately when I started it the temp gauge was already above 200. So it acts like it is reading temp, but needs adjusted or something. Is there a way to do that?

The gauge is not adjustable but if you have a VOM and an accurate thermometer, you can check the resistance of the sender at various operating temps per the chart below:

There should be no resistance in the lead from the gauge to the sender and, if it's operating correctly, the resistance through the sender will track as above.

It is easier to pull the sender and do the test on the bench - use a heat (or contractors type) lamp to get it hot. No need to check it all the way up and down. If it works well in the middle range it is OK. I usually just check ohms at 90, 150 & 200.
