I moved the ICM on my 3.4 DOHC...But that's a bit different...Never seen someone move the ones inside the dist.

Yup
Thats also one way to make a GM TBI system work on othere makes. You get an ICM that is confirmed not working, gut it, and hook the wires from the pickup to what was the coil side, then using a new plug, build a harness from the dist to the ICM in its new location.
