85 2 wheel drive lowered front with 2.5'' spindals lowered rear 4'' with shackles and front brackets

stock 350 stock 700r4 the drop is the only non stock modification to the truck

it chewed up the first tail housing
i put a new tail housing with new bushing and seal different drive shaft new u joints and balanced shaft. then messured the angle on the transmission and pinion angle there was about 4 degrees difference. the pinion was up that much so i put in 4 degree shims.

as far as i know the pinion angle shoul be equal but opposite as the trannny.

it just chewed up the second tail housing with only 50 miles on it.

i am going to try new tailshaft with new bushing and seal red loctite the bushing in the housing.
all new drive shaft and slip yoke change rear end to a 12 bolt.
so everything will be different

it had a light vibration that i can't say for sure what it was before the bushing got pushed in.

any help on this

I don't suppose the driveshaft could be out of phase? Since it is slip yoke I assume not, unless your driveline shop screwed up and didn't get the front & rear yokes perfectly aligned. Driveshafts are only allowed 0.002" runout total, which equals 0.001" on radius. If you have any doubts about the driveline shop call them out on it.

Does the slip yoke slide onto the output shaft nicely?

i watched the guy at the shop balance its all good there

and ya it slipped into the tailshaft smooth

it had a vibration that i can not pin point thats why i plan to change everything from the tailshaft back to the rear end

i plan to rebalance the tires as well

and if i can't get rid of the vibration and get it to stop eating the tail shaft i will part it out and get rid of the problem that way

Next time you have the tailshaft housing off check the output shaft for play at the main trans case. There's a rear bushing there that could be bad. (Not in the tailshaft housing but in the main trans case.)
