Swaping out steering columns

I need to swap out my steering column in my 86 c10 for a column i got out of a 91 suburban... Is there any tricks i need to know about or any vids that can guide me? (1st timer)

It should be a direct replacement. Unplug your main column wire harness and the neutral safety switch at the firewall. Unbolt the the column at the firewall first than go under the hood. There is a bolt at the firewall under the column there is alittle pinch plate that needs to come off. Unbolt the steering shaft from the column, disconnect the shift rod. Go back to the inside of the cab there are four bolts that hold the column under the dash. Disconnect the spring that is on the column for you gear indicator, than the column should come out

Just remember to wait and get the 2 nuts that hold it up to the dash last. Otherwise you have the column laying in the seat in your way while you get rest of bolts out.

THANKS FELLAS... I just finished the install, feels hella good not to worry about the turn signal being stuck on and fighting with the windshield wipers... not to mention the hi/lo switch for the head lights working now.... :winner_first_h4h:
