Hello all, new to this forum and also to the squares. I picked myself up a 74 c10 stepside and have a few plans for it, as far as, lowering, front end rebuild, a/c install, etc, etc. Search button has helped out greatly but there are still some unanswered items I'd like to pinpoint in the near future. Truck currently has a 307 supposedly with a 327 crank(previous owner wanted a gas saver that could do some light towing), head work mated to a th350. I don't have any pics yet but will get some up when I get a chance.

Weclome to GMSB Ed. Yep. Pics when you can find the time. It's required here or we get nasty !!! :Sumo:

Sounds like a good project you're starting on.

If you might want a 4x4 Burb Project , since you can't have to many squares, that needs a 700r4 rebuilt, replaced or converted to Th350 which is what I'd do... I might know someone in far Northern Cali that has one for sale. (See Jims86) Hopefully he's talked wifey into keeping it, or I end up with it somehow. So far it's just to damn far for me to get to OK.

Yeah, I moved out here almost three years ago from Mt. House. I'm originally from the bay though. It sure gets HOT out here! :signs8:

You must be in East county...Byron area. Summers in West County are nice, especially when the fog rolls in.
BTW, HR...yep, Still have it. Have not heard a single peep about it since I made the decision to keep it.

Here it is..............

Yes, that's power steering fluid leaking on the driveway. I did a little reading and I guess it's a pretty common problem that my local parts store should have the replacement seal for. We'll see..........

That's a nice Green Truck. Gotta few other GM Retros on it I see. Like the wheels and Camaro Steering wheel. :waytogo:

Your leaking fluid reminds me of my '79 not long after I got it. I had just worked out most of the bugs and fixed a lot of things, and the truck didn't leak anything at all. We took the truck to see family about 45 minutes away, for the trucks maiden voyage I guess you would call it. We arrived without issue, and knowing the truck didn't leak, I parked on my family member's nice concrete driveway... then a few minutes later, the seal in the power steering pump failed and fluid started running all over the place:thumbsdown:

I later bought a seal kit for the PS pump, but when I went to fix it, things went wrong in a hurry. I ended up getting mad and beating the snot out of the power steering pump with a hammer until the hammer broke. That little experience ended up costing me a seal kit, a rebuilt pump with reservoir, a core charge, and a hammer. Moral of the story, I recommend just getting a rebuilt pump from the start
