I know on late 80s trucks its either on passenger fender, or in the windshield

what year truck is it off of. Look for a whole in the fenders if not then its in the windshield

Post is in the back? Back of what? As stated its either in the windshield or passenger side fender.

If your truck is used perhaps the fender was shaved or it belongs on the windshield but the windshield was replaced.

Hey, i have an 83 too. Mine is inside the cab, right in the middle of the dashpad at the bottem of the windshield. It's not actually the kind of antenna you'd think, its just a rubber boot with a small metal post in the middle of it, and it just sticks up there.,

Well, that's not exactly true. If you look closely above the "rubber boot", you'll notice that there are two extremely fine wires that are sandwiched between the inner and outer layers of the windshield glass. They start at the rubber seal (where the coax cable that heads down to the radio begins), and head straight up to near the top of the windshield. At that point they split off to the left/right and lead out towards the sides of the glass.

These two strands of wire form a dipole type antenna.

I like the antenna in the windshield for looks and durability. No losers walking by are gonna bend that antenna lol but it doesn't seem to be the best for reception. Is it just me or is that a common theme with the glass antennas ?
