I am trying to remove the wiring for the TBI on the 89 burb that I am scrapping and wonder if I can separate the section of the firewall plug that contains the wiring that I need. It looks like it will come apart but is pretty solid.

I need the section on the left. Any pointers other than cutting the wires or breaking the plug?

The two halves basically just unhook from each other.

I never remember exactly how they come apart, I just fiddle with them and figure it out again. But the one half has retainers that actually clip around the other half of the connector.

Sometimes a heat gun helps. The grease used to seal the terminals from the weather can dry out and make things difficult to separate. A little heat softens the grease.

I was able to pull the whole engine side of the harness off, sono need to split it yet. I was thinking about putting the TBI on my 80, but after seeing how much wiring I will have to add, I’m not sure if I’ll try it.
