Very rare, I've only seen a couple on eBay over the years. That style was '73-75 only from what I understand and it might've even been only part way through '75 and then they started phasing in the sideways carrier on the pass side that stayed till the end of production in '91

I had no idea they were just 3 pieces of stamped steel.

Seems like a certain metal reproduction company could replicate that...
Supply and demand vs profit.Personally I think I'd bend one out of 1 inch tubing and weld plate on the face of it.

the forum software is picking up your old thread too (in the "similar" threads on my screen under the current postings)
and this one

off that 2nd link: $30 for aftermarket thing that does the same ??? (not bad, vs. hand cobbling out of hardware store new stuff,...or hunting on a scrap pile for mattress frames)

Won't work in a Blazer. Cool if it did. I'd bend up a sissy bar and weld on a plate to bolt the wheel to.

The style that bolts to the side of the bed will not work for my Blazer; between the rear seat and the wheel well there is not enough room for a spare tire. Also the “bed” in mine is finished with trim panels that I don’t want to cut or drill.

Did you see the pics I put above. The sissy bar pictured may even be a good start if you can't bend .

did you think about out over the bumper ? (swing out, like a bronco, ...hopefully in such a manor it does not bob)
such would leave more room for your "stuff" out of the rain vs. the giant spare.

seen real off road camper people put them on the roof.... and everything that is too heavy and rarely used.
...and drag in the wind.

Yes @Ricko1966 . The style in your photos is what will work. When I do get my hands on one it will look like this.

What I was saying was that sissy bar pictured would be a reasonable start for homemade if push comes to shove. Tweak the bottom bends to 90*

Understood. I have a design in my head for one and may make it to use until I can find an original. Concern is the bolt hole layout for mounting it to the bed. Dont like the idea of drilling new holes once I did find an original.

I already thought of that bolt your home brew to 3/4 plywood bolt the plywood to original bolt holes.
