Touring Central NC @ 35MPH most days. Depends on the student's ability. Sometimes I have some that pick up the pace & will get on I-40.

I guess you keep the crash helmets / hans devices stored in the trunk, and the doors are welded shut over a hidden roll cage.

Well, usually the students will drive okay. The other drivers on the road see the yellow sign and it's like meth to the head as many of them will do some of the most ignorant and blatant aggressive and reckless driving maneuvers around us. With that said, the student drivers can spook the sh-t out me at times too. The old saying is "somebody's gotta do it" and I reckon teaching them is fell on my lot.

Spooked!

You guys will appreciate this.
Our daily driver (rental) for the next week.
Just landed in Townsville Queensland. Our older son is attending grad school there!
Had a med size shitbox suv thing rented. It ended up being a MB with non functioning A/C. The rental place didn’t have another mid size but they had a Hilux decked out for construction rentals which is not for everyone but we’re good with it.
I tried not to act too excited when the gal said unless we wanted to wait, if we needed cargo space, we could have the Hilux and a small refund for our troubles!!
Got most of a week here on the coast but this thing will be going into the Outback fo sho!
Stay tuned.
PS driving on the L side in a RH drive is not intuitive at all the first day. No road beers will be allowed!

Since I'm a glutton for punishment my two main daily drivers are Euro spec. I do 100+ miles round trip daily. It gets old.

And as a follow up, it’s good that rental companies don’t keep a data base of who “not” to rent to because I would have my name in bold on that list! Aside from past off roading to burning the tires off sports cars to oopsies that got repaired, returned and not caught, this truck almost ended up part of the Pacific Ocean if not for this group of nice guys that saved our @sses when we got into mud….on a beach….below high tide….
Pic doesn’t look like much but it was stuck as fck and not coming out without a pull or recovery boards. Even after jacking up the entire truck with the spare tire jack and setting it on long logs so it wouldn’t sink into the combo quicksand/pottery clay!

These are after pics. There were no “during” pics due to sheer scrambling and mild panic and the lack of wanting any evidence of where it was stuck when the insurance claim manifested itself!!!

Wheels were so packed with mud had to stop and scrape them out as it wouldn’t drive over 80km/h without feeling like it was gonna shake apart! Lol.
