Had a new compressor installed. How would you address the shop that decided this was a good way to install the hoses. It works, and I know the effort involved to fix it, but this makes me crazy. Also cut over a foot of hose, and crossed them right in front of the oil dipstick.

Honesty wins the day. Ask them if they can do better? Acknowledge that it works, but you would like it cleaned up.

I’m not sure I see anything worthy of making me crazy or even understand the issue.
So I’d be careful trying to get anything by claiming they screwed up.

This is a picture of how they routed my hoses. The hose running over to the evaporator/dryer is similar to the original GM routing, but looks like it has more slack than yours does. The one running from the compressor to the condenser runs straight to the grill support, through it and, then connects to the condenser on that side.
The other condenser hose runs across the top of the grill support and over to the evaporator.

You will always have one condenser hose running across the engine compartment because it needs to connect to both evaporator and compressor and they are on opposite sides. However, most of the time the factory installed the condenser with both connections on the driver's side.

I think I'm happy with my setup, after all is said and done.

No, not claiming they screwed up. I think they could have done better.
