Nah, Chevy column and wheel.

I just want all the gadgets and gizmos I can possibly put in a square and still retain a factory look. Probably the only aftermarket/non OEM parts on the truck will be the fuel tank switch (factory one can't handle TPI pressure apparently) and the intermediate steering shaft (using a Jeep part).

So are you saying you're going with a NON Telescopic wheel, or is there a Chevy column that is telescopic.???

There is a Chevy column (round one - Saginaw) that is telescopic.

hmmm, never knew that. Wonder what its available in. I do remember you talking about that steering shaft at one time too. I oughta be keeping an eye out for that myself. I think I'm good to go with the standard square column with tilt and cruise multifunction switch which I have 4 of for all 4 of the projects I hope to complete.

The intermediate shaft is a good thing to have. The Borgeson shaft is like $300 and the Jeep shaft is almost the same and can be had for under $20.

Can you elaborate a little further on this Retro? Do you know what year and model of Jeep the shaft would be present in?

1987-1996 Wrangler would be the most logical choice. I think Cherokee is too short. It does have to be slightly modified, you'll have to heat it up a little to melt the plastic that holds it from collapsing. Otherwise, it's a bolt on for 1977(I think) to 1991 squares.

Like the Borgeson, it used u-joints instead of a rag joint.

When I asked about a Jeep shaft on a certain other board, I was told "why not just buy a Borgenson shaft?" Well, I think $280 can be better spent elsewhere on the truck.

Great info. Wranglers are hard to find in the pull a parts, but there is a million Cherokees at our Pull A Part.j Well, not that many, but there is at least 4 rows of 8-10 Cherokees. If I happen to see a Wrangler, I'll grab the shaft. Would be nice to see someone do a write up on the Mod in the steering and suspension section.

Budget Wrench had about 20 Cherokees at $5 each for the shafts...I thought about getting all of them just to sell at $50-60 each on ebay.
