Had a chance to pick up a 92 f150. What sparked my interest was the 300 and 5 speed. My 88 was the same config and that truck could pull a house.
So....
Went to check it out.
It had never spent a day in a garage and the green/blue had mostly left. (Great petina)
The interior was a mouse house with springs showing thru chewed seat. (Ambience)
The drivers door could only be opened from the outside. (Anti self-ejection)
The battery was absent cause it was dead...just not buried. Oil looked good. Coolant was half down. (The 300's were notorous for freeze plug rust thru)
So we attempted a jump. Hood and dome lights came on but no buzzers with key on. (Stealthy mode) Solenoid would kick but nothing else. Tapping a hammer on the starter let out all the magic smoke. Then the solenoid followed suit.
That was the most action it was willing to give. He suggested pull starting, I didn't feel like picking up the front bumper and dragging it back to the corral.
5% of the body had returned to earth and every door slam donated another half percent.
The windshield had the typical RTV reinforcement across the top.
The frame wasn't too bad because it had only been driven during lawn mowing season.
It had 120k on the clock and the brakes had never been touched. I'm guessing the tires were original. The owner said the rear brakes had not worked for years. And the gas tanks would not switch over.

I was prepared for a project, but not a total dismantel.
I really wanted that 300/5 spd set up. I had found EFI to carb conversions and they looked easy enuf. I was ok with the patina and the faded green and the other little things, but things just kept adding up. The list was wrapping around the truck and multiplying. By the end of it, he would of had to pay me $500 just to take it.

Bummer.
