reverse lights on in park...off in reverse?

so im having a bit of trouble with this problem. when the dimmer switch is on in park the lights work and they don't work in reverse. I have an auto turbo 350.
when I wiggle the gear selector they go off...and then come back on.
is there a switch or wire I can trace to lead me to what could be causing this?

At the bottom of the column...there is a curved white switch hugging the top of the clumn at the firewall. thats the park safety and reverse light switch. its also adjustable.

ive found that and adjusted it.
now my lights worked for a few seconds and went off and now wont come back on
