Replacing The Quadrajet

I've been looking for another Quadrajet to put on my 454 while I take the original one off to rebuild, but with no luck. How well will a 650 work on a 454?

It will work fine,and have good throttle response. I'm assuming a mostly stock engine not trying to win races. You may even pickup some mpg

I finally found one like I have. Now to rebuild one of them.

I bought a carb kit for the Quadrajet. It didn't have the spec sheet in it. Can anyone tell me what the float level is for carb number 17085005? I've read 5/16, 9/32 and 1/4. I know the difference between these number is like 1/32.

I'd go 9/32

It's 3/8" for this one. Late M4ME carbs like this are generally between 3/8"-7/16".
