The dash speaker in my 1976 Sierra Grande probably hasn't worked since the 90's! It have Pioneer head unit but I don't want to deal with speakers behind the seat or in the door.

Has anybody just replaced the dash speaker with a modern 4x10? If so, any recommendations? Retromanufacturing makes two models that should work and both have dual voice coils for stereo. Crutchfield offers a bunch of 4x10 speakers but I have no idea about fitment.

Any experience or advice on specific 4x10 speakers for a satisfying 1 speaker experience?

"satisfying 1-speaker experience" is kind of a contradiction in terms. But, you can make just about anything fit the dash.

I have been putting heavy 6x9s in the bottoms of truck doors for more decades than I'd care to admit. Never a problem.

So, I ordered a fleabay 4x10 adapter and a new pair of Infinity Reference 3032cf 3.5" speakers. I'm not into rumbling bass (I just want clarity) so I think that setup should sound pretty good. $105 all in which is reasonable to supplement the Pioneer MVH-S23BT that the previous owner installed.

While I have the dash off, I'll also service the instrument panel with new bulbs and a clean/polish up the of the bezel.

Thanks for all the ideas.
