What's a legitamate price on a 2006 4.8 w/4l60e and harness with 100k on the motor
Little background I have a 1987 gmc sierra with 5.7 and sm465 and I am wanting a good reliable drivetrain that will get me around 20mpg not worried about power or anything just want a driver not a garage queen cause gas is too much any ways the guy with the 4.8 wants 1200 obo and I was thinking that was way to much but I'm still a newbie so you guys tell me

2500 would be a good price but i would take the trans to a shop and have it at least checked out stock tire size and gearing are important to mpg as well you could get pretty close to 20 mpg or better with a tune once its all installed and running right synthetic oil will help too offer 1000 and see if he takes it 1200 is a steal if everything still works and it comes with the wire harness and PCM

A 4.8 alone should run from 300-600 tops with intake and harness.

I personally got mine for 450 with everything including ECM and harness, except alt and starter with more miles.

With the 4l60E, i would say 1,000-1,200 tops. As long as the trans was working obviously. Luckily they are cheap to rebuild.

So I think that price is not too bad, but obviously offer less. The 4.8 is rated at 285 HP at the crank, so your power is still gonna be there, prob even more.

Still not gonna get 20 MPG though

Theres a good chance he can get real close or better with a tune. My TBI 350 gets 17.5 hwy mpg.

There is a guy on 67-72chevytrucks, who is very much not the BS type, that was getting 20-21mpg highway with a 5.3L/4L60E and 3.42s.
