Also just realized my truck doesn't have a nose brace so glad @Snoots pointed that out.

i put two shims on the outer bolt and when my shift is over I will see if I have anymore grinding. as far as the bolt problem I think I will just rely on the washers for now. its my only vehicle at the moment so i can't really afford to take the motor out but if i have a chance maybe ill try to0 re-tap the thread.

Some starters don't have the 'special' screw in the starter to attach the brace. If you EVER change starters, remove that bolt! Most rebuilts and other starters will not have them.
