Can anyone tell me why the front u-joint would be dripping oil? The transmission tail shaft seal is dry and not leaking.

If you are talking about oil dripping from the front joint on the rear driveshaft, you are likely leaking fluid from the hole in the end of the slip yoke. The output shaft on the trans should have a sleave or an o-ring on it that keeps fluid from getting into the splines and coming out of the hole in the end of the yoke. They also make a yoke that is sealed on the end and then you can remove the sleave or o-ring.

Thanks Eric, that must be where it's coming from. The tail shaft seal was replaced over two years ago and this drip developed in the last 3-4 weeks. There is enough oil there that when driving, it gets slung up on the bottom of the cab.

Did you also replace the tailshaft bushing when you did the seal? They should really be replaced together since the seal usually only leaks because the bushing is worn. If the inner seal wasn't replaced when the outer was done, that could be your problem also
