nv4500 with long shaft np205

Can a stock nv4500 aluminum tailshaft housing handle the weight of a np205 transfer case? I have seen where you can buy a cast iron tailshaft housing, do I need it? I will be using the adapter / spacer from advance adapter also.

Thats the adapter im talking about, but can the aluminum tail shaft housing of a 4500 support the weight of such a heavy transfer case?

Mine has been fine for several years now. Use the torque bars off the side of the 205 to the bell housing.to distribute some of the weight

I just picked up a 93 chevy truck that has a tbi 350 and nv4500 I want to stuff them in an older 1 ton so I will be doing this same swap soon

I have put a nv4500 in an 85 with a 208 t case but not one with a 205 yet

I am going to see if the short input for the 205 will work with the nv4500

ya it is external slave

I was just looking at advance adapters site and seen a adapter for the long input cheaper than I can get a short input. so I just ordered a bell housing kit and the adapter for the long input round pattern 205.

I wanted to make this swap fast and easy the 1 ton its going in is a 4 speed truck already. I wont have to mess with the pedals or convert it to a hyd. clutch since I am using the AA bell housing.
fast and easy makes up for the money I just spent. really it would probably cost the same amount to adapt it any other way.

I ordered them from summit racing they had better prices and free shipping
460.00 for the bell housing kit and the 205 adapter

now I have to pull apart my round pattern 205 and swap out the slip yoke for a fixed yoke

Mine has a torque bar on the passenger side only, is it supposed to have one on each side?

Also im needing a bell housing for the nv4500. I have already have the hydraulic clutch setup to install. My transmission is from a 1995 chevrolet truck

Is that 93 external slave?

Im pretty sure that 93 is external but not 100%. The short input shaft will work but I think you have to replace the rear tailshaft housing.

Can I use the stovk shifter on a np205, nv4500 combo or do I have to bo with the twin stick setup?

the nv4500 tail shaft does not have a mounting location for the shifter.

I am looking at the advance adapters bracket for the shifter to mount the stock shifter handle.

the short input will fit the nv4500 but you need to cut out a clearance wedge out of the mounting flange on the nv4500 and a little clearance work for the nut below the shifting rails.
and a little on the inside of the tail shaft housing for the bolts on the front of the 205

The aa part number is 715529, summit racing sells them.
