So i found what i think is a sweet deal on a NP208 (not a 205) that I'm going to look at later this week my question is what type of adapter would i need to mount(6bolt or 8bolt) the transfer case from a 85 1ton to my 87 3/4 ton.
Owner says its a 32 spline

Second what other parts might be needed to marry the two?

Any other tips will help on making my 3/4ton to a 4x4

Check the length of the front driveshaft I went from a 203 to a 205 in my 77 and I need to shorten my front shaft also my 203 had a bolt on drive shaft and the 205 has a slip yoke into the case my case already had the adapter 6 bolt I think but I also have a 350 trans

all 1 tons had 205 t cases
they switched from race track pattern to the round pattern in 85

208 has an aluminum case with a rear slip yoke

205 has a iron case
1tons were fixed yoke
later half 3/4 tons had slip yoke

turbo400's and 85 and up sm465 4 speed 205's were 32 spline and will not interchangewith turbo350's or 84 and down sm465 4 speeds

make sure you know what you are getting the round pattern 205 fixed yoke is worth a fair chunk of change

post picture if you can not identify it for sure

Not quite. '77-'79 1 tons did not get the np205 behind the auto, they got the np203. Also, later 1 tons DID get a slip yoke if they were single cabs with a 1-piece rear shaft. Trucks with a 2-piece shaft got the bolt-on yoke.
