This is going to sound like a moronic post, but please bear with me.
I took a rusted out 74 blazer and turned it into a purpose vehicle for my firewood business. Hydraulic power unit in the "bed", brush pusher on the front, 3 point style log splitter on the back. Truck never leaves my farm, unless on a trailer. Probably doesn't see 50 miles a year.
Problem is 3:07 gears, not great for pushing brush, even in low. I know the 203 has some sort of internal diff that's active in the regular hi and low positions.
So I'm wondering if I could swap in a lower geared rear end without having to fool with the front. I realize I would have to keep it out of the Loc postions for sure. Would this work or am I a moron.
I was offered a dually 14 bolt 4:10 that has been welded, but it's not really worth it if I have to find a 4:10 front or pay to get the gears swapped. Thanks
Edit: full time case, no coversion kit.
