Growing up I had an uncle that owned this 77 Stepside. He cherished this truck! He took out the inline 6cyl and built up a strong 350. 4 bolt main, brand new steel crank from GM, 12 limited slip that he went thru and replaced the clutches and any other questionable parts. Last year he installed a brand new Richmond Gear 4 speed manual.
It has 48K miles on it which is ridiculous, but, it was his baby and he rarely drove it.....I didn't take a pic of the brake and clutch pedal but they aren't even worn down on the lower corners like you'd expect.
He undercoated the hell out of it in 78 when he got it then every year after that he'd mix motor oil and kerosene, spray it down and then find a dusty old dirt road to take a ride on, so, it is almost 100% rust free....in fact, it still has the ORIGINAL PAINT!!!
Anyway, a couple weeks ago he asked me if I'd like to go for a ride in it if he were to take it out later in the week, I said "ABSOLUTELY"!!!
A couple weeks went by and I saw him again and he said he didn't call cause he didn't take it out. I said "no big deal". I'll never forget the next thing he said to me.
He told me that he really wasn't into it (the truck) anymore and he had always wanted me to have it. Ho. Lee. ****!!!!
Then he told me to get insurance on it and take it home!!!!!
What really makes this cool is that my uncle Mike was a major influence in my life as a child. He was the reason I got into hot rods. I feel so honored that he thinks highly enough of me that he wants me to have his truck!!!
