hey all, new to the square body trucks here. I have 2 g-body Malibu's, but I've been wanting a truck for a few years, and I happened across this one. was looking for a 73-80 regular cab 4x4 dually pickup, but I got something almost as good... a 1979 chevy firetruck! it has a 350, 4 sp, 4x4 and only 25,300 miles on it! as it sits now, I need to put a new gasket on the front differential cover. the body has very little rust, only 2 spots in the floor need attention, a cab corner, as well as the doors. the frame and everything else is mint! the plan right now is to take the decals off, get rid of all the fire related parts, and swap in a flatbed. down the road, I'd eventually like to swap in a 453t Detroit. as I get the work done, i'll post more pics

don't have pics now, but the dance floor has been removed, and I started going through all the wiring. hopefully it'll be stripped tomorrow, aside from the roof light. so many random disconnected wires under the dash of this thing its amazing it never caught fire!

plans already changed for the engine. another firefighter I work with has a 1990 dodge 12v with 130k with a blown transmission, and he wants to get rid of the truck. another friend has a jake brake that he says will fit that, and said its all mine. now I just need to figure out the transmission situation. as it is now, i'll prolly end up contacting the guy in Wolcott VT that parts them out and see about a nv4500.

I got new bumper mounts, and the bumper has been reinstalled. I am still pulling wires and prts off the truck. its insane how much wire is here!!!

and in some good news, I bought the truck off my friend, 1990 dodge 250 with the 5.9 and a stick. haven't got under it yet, but the trans needs a rebuild. not sure whats wrong with it yet. but he hasn't run the truck in a few months, tossed a battery in and it fired right up!

Quite the old Brush truck you've got there, I can see that wiring really taking some time.
