Hello There,
My Dually starts right up first thing in the morning. But once I park it and run in to the auto parts or something, it has a very hard time starting once the trucks warmed up. So bad, that I'm afraid it's going to leave me stranded. Any suggestions as far as what I should replace/repair? Thanks for your input.

How long does the fuel pump prime? on a k30, its supposed to prime for 15-20 seconds. You may have an ignition part starting to give up, coil or module. Check for proper fuel pressure too. 9-13 psi in your case.

check what jim86 said but a couple of other things to consider are...

1. Vapor Lock
2. timing is too retarded or advanced.
3. overheating the starter

my guess is vapor lock.

Sounds like maybe heat sink on the starter. Do you have headers on the truck? I think you can get heat shields for the starter as well.

Has trouble starting because it doesn't like to crank?

A weak battery can also be to blame. I've had that happen a few times on my trucks... I think the starter is getting heat soaked on a hot start, but the battery ended up dying later on. With the new battery, no more hot start problems. Just happened on the '88 Burb actually. I thought I had occasional heat soak the last couple months, but the battery died on Monday morning. Now with the new battery, there's never any trouble at all.
