I know this a repeated subject but cant find much on this. Maybe I'm not looking in the right place. But I wanted to know what goes in best with little fab work. I found a 97 third row seat from a suburban. What needs to be done to get this in. The guy selling it says it wont work for one reason or another.

So long as it's not to wide to fit between the fender wells, I'd see no reason it can't be made to work with some fab work. Square Burb to New Burb, the latch spacing is to the floor is very different. Though my picture memory isn't working on the mount method for the newer Burb 3rd row seating.

So I finally found a newer suburban third row seat. I got a steal for $100. I was wondering instead of cutting and welding the bottom of the seat, what do you guys think of just welding U-shaped round bar to the floor. Three seperate ones in the rear and two in the front? The seat is basically brand new and dont want to ****** it. Thanks. My search continues for front seats now.....

Look at that, snug as a bug. I think that'd be good or some kind of homemade low profile adapter that can bridge the differing seat designs. Just make sure you don't compromise your headroom, especially if you have any intention of carrying adult passengers back there. I haven't sat in my backseat for a while so I can't recall the clearance, but it should be pretty forgiving for whatever you need to do.

Yeah didn't think of room for adults. I'll have to jump back there to check. I'm 6'1 so that'll be a good test. My kids are excited. I feel good about having lap and shoulder belts for them. Yes really good fit.

Pre-'78 K5's had a rear seat that was raised up off the floor (they had no footwell) and there was enough room for adults to sit. Less room of course, but enough room.

Well I got the seat installed. I sat back in it too. There's plenty of leg room send head room for me. So my kids will have more than enough. I got angle iron and welded round bar where the seat hooks in. I then bolted the front into the original bolt holes for the old one. The back I drilled 4 holes and bolted into the truck. Here's some pictures...Any comments are welcomed.

Here's a couple more... I'm going to paint the brackets and spray some bedliner as soon as it warms up. I will put carpet back in at some point. But next it the two front seats and weather stripping and new top gasket/liner...

Not sure about that but if you check on http://www.chevyk5blazer.com there are some folks there that will send you the plans to make your own. Alternatively I think you can check out Merricks garage and he has them on his site https://merricksgarage.com/rear-bench-seat-bracket-plans/

I think that bracket setup is for the 81 and later rear floor pan brackets.

Its been pretty hard finding matching front seats. Lots of greys and cloth but not a whole lot of beige or light tan color ones. When I've got a lead on some they are gone quicker than you know it. Anyone know where I would have better luck. I've tempted to just buy some seats with power and heat to them and get them reupholster them to match

I got some cloth powered seats out of a 2004 Yukon for my K5. They are a dark grey and my back seat is one of the last year models and a light blue. What I was thinking of doing was taking the front seats and cleaning them really well, and then taking the cover off the rear seat, and then washing it and dying it to match the front seats. I was thinking I might dye it black and wash it again afterwards and see if it lightens a little, but even then I figure over time with the top off some sunlight will fade it some more so even if it is darker to start with it's not going to be a huge issue because eventually I want to replace my slider windows with solid ones that are tinted so it'll usually be darker in back with the top on anyways.
