Wondering if there is any lowering kits for 4x4's?

I have NO need for lifting and huge tires, so please just answer the question. It's either staying stock or getting lowered if its possible.

If there is no kits could I do a spring under axle in the front and rear for a lower look?

I'm not sure if the front axle would allow you very much drop. If you did manage a couple inches of drop you would need some good bumpstops to keep the axle out of the oil pan, so I would imagine you would have a harsh ride, pounding the bumpstops often.

Ok, thanks. I've only had the Blazer for a little over a week and really haven't been able to check it out for clearance. The weather hasn't cooperated much. :(

Do you not need the 4WD? If not you could convert it to 2WD for a stock ride height but it is a bit of a job. Honestly I've never seen a drop kit for a 73-87 4WD.

I bought it for a 4x4 when and if we needed it. Where I live, most of the time we don't get much snow but there were years we got a lot. So I'd rather not get rid of the 4wd just incase.

Same here, I use it maybe a dozen times a year during the winter, mostly to just get across the field I park in behind my house. I spend 95 percent of my drive time through the year dragging around the extra 4WD stuff but I like it there when I need it.

The stock springs are already negative arch and there's not a lot of axle-frame clearance as it is. I think the frame would need to be notched, but then you run into oil pan clearance issues. The best way to lower it would probably be a set of shorter tires, but something with meat so it doesn't look weird. Like a 275/60 15 maybe.

Stock mine came with 235/75 it has 32/11.50 on it now and looks ok and doesn't rub. I'm probably going to need new tires by the end of the year so tire size wont be a problem. I'll change it if nessesary. I really want less wheel gap though.

Wonder if there is a way to use the rear lowering leafs in the front?

Hey you could sell the blazer to me and then get a 92 or newer GMT-400 body style blazer with IFS front, would be easier to lower! :waytogo:

Hey I see in your sig it has the TH350, would it happen to have the NP205 t-case as well? And I know what you mean about the woman wanting you to sell it! I always threaten to sell her ride first if it ever came to hard times lol.

Idk about the transfer case. How do I find out?

Right now the guy I bought it from said he bought it a couple months ago to make a mid bog truck out of but is in the middle of buying a house and needed the extra cash so he was selling the extra stuff off. He had some wheels and tires, 4wheelers and other stuff.

Anyway, he said the guy swapped in a 92 305 and said it had a 400 trans. I took his word on it just like he did. I looked under it today and found out its a 350 trans. I'm hoping.for no more suprizes.

Post a pic or 3 of the t-case and I'm sure one of us can figure it out. Chances are it is either a 205 or 203, but since he lied about the TH400 I'm afraid it might be a 203. I guess you didn't get the mud tires?

Well i'm not sure he lied, more like didnt know and just said what the last owner told him.

Anyway, it is originally a 350 motor truck. Swapped with a 305. So I think it was supposed to have a TH400 but I think they swapped the 305 trans too.

And it came with 33/12.50 on 15x10 rims but the tires were bald and rubbing on the fender when I turned so I traded them with a friend that has a lifted truck and 15x8 w/ 32/11.50

I'll try to get a couple pics tomarrow.
