- 350 soon to be Cummins 5.9
Hi there,
Not sure I'll get support with the Cummins swap here, but there are some other things I will need help with on the body.
I found a Gen 1 5.9 with the VE pump and mechanical lift pump for 175.00. It was in a GradAll that a township scrapped out. The motor must have been a transplant from a Dodge and wasn't the factory industrial motor. I think this because it has the Dodge badge over the valve covers and the valve covers are painted black.
My initial plan was to drop it into my 1984 3/4 ton Chevy plow truck, but after a bit of thinking, I decided to find pre-92 3/4 ton Suburban. After looking for several months, I found one on Craigslist in Kingman, AZ.
It is straight and solid but has a few issues with water leaking in around the doors. I think it needs some tweaking and new rubber seals but there might be a few other tricks to make it water tight.
I'm sure I'll be asking plenty of questions but hopefully I can contribute as I progress on this project.
