Hi everyone, My name is Dylan. Been a chevy guy my whole life. Used to have a 94 Chevy now have an 04 lifted straight cab short box and just acquired an 84 burb. Having some questions that i need answered.

First of all 1984 Suburban with built 355 700r4 tranny, np208 trans case. Has Holley 670 street avenger carb with team g intake. flat top pistons, hardened rods supposedly 327 heads. Heres the question though. 6 inch lift. Gearing is 3.42 on 315/75 17 tires. So around 36" i think. Front and rear are build. Rear is possy and front is limited slip i think also. Is the gearing wrong for this appicaion? It doesnt run the best yet. It stumbles, backfires just doesnt run good till its good and warm and still could be better. Needless to say i have a project on my hands. Whats is best for this rig. Mostly when i get it up and going will be to drive the short distance i have to work and for play. Gearing need a change? What else is a good application for this truck. Its had supposedly a lot done to it but ive forgotten some of it. Is it on the right track to become a good mud toy?

Howdy!

And that's a horrible ratio for your combo! It may sound extreme, but 4.56 or even 4.88 would work best for your combo. More power, better MPG, and your trans won't hate life as much. Is this a 1/2 ton Burb?
