I got Spicer joints delivered in unopened box. The joints are easy to move, but I can’t notice slop. I’m used to stiff new ball joints. The grease is black, is that normal? What’s y’all’s opinions on this? Should I waste time trying them Or send back and get something else?

I read a bunch but can find a straight answer whether that is normal for new spicer joints.

My original lower was definitely bad. But my upper was still very stiff and solid; much more so than these.

Spicer is a well-regarded name brand when it comes to drive line and suspension parts. The u-joints in my custom 5" aluminum drive shaft are Spicer. Install them and run them.

Grease depending on manufacturer is different colors the stuff we use at work on the Bobcats is from Bobcat and is a blueish black. The stuff I use at home was always red I purchased the exact same stuff recently and it is now yellow for some reason. Grease has few issues typically only when it is over heated or contaminated. Just make sure you use Hi temp stuff where needed like wheel bearings and you'll be fine.

Some ball joints are hard to move, some easier. I never had an issue with on or the other. Spicer is high quality brand, run them.
