I just joined this forum recently. I bought a 1987 Suburban from an older gentleman who used to use it on his deer lease. The only thing wrong with the body is a dent in the right cargo door from when it opened all the way into the tail light because the limiting strap failed. It had/has numerous mechanical issues mostly due to the lack of use and maintenance throughout the year. The transmission finally went out so I'm in the middle of installing a new engine and transmission. I'm going with the HT383 from GMPP. I'm controlling spark and timing with a Professional Products Projection III and a MSD two-wire distributor with locked-out advance. I had a local shop build a 4L80E and will control the shifting with a US Shift TCM. I'm awaiting a Northwest Fab Black-Box-I to put onto the NP205 T-case. I have a set of one-tons with 4.56 gears under my 76 waiting to install. I still need to go through the 14-bold but the D60 is good to go with new crossover steering arms. I guess the only thing I don't have sitting on the bench are new drive shafts and crossover steering tie-rod and drag-link.
