Greetings all! I stumbled across this site looking for some info on the beast, and it seems like there is a wealth of knowledge I can pick when I need help, and hopefully contribute to if I can! About me, I'm 23, live in Newport RI, deliver appliances for a living, and love my truck. About my truck, its an 84 K10 fleetside longbed, 305, twin cooled 700-r4, np203, 10 bolt 8.5"s, eddy carb and manifold, all aluminum radiator, ac delete, working on a ps delete, 1 5/8" primary headers, 2.5" true duals with cherry bombs, and a rattle can paint job. I will begin picking you're brains about a few issues I have quite soon, but I wanted to at least say hello first. I'm glad to have found this site, and will be here often.

Why the PS delete? Less parts to worry about?

back again

Hey all! Thanks for the warm welcome! The ps delete is due to a shot pump, and belt alignment issues I'm sick of dealing with. I shouldn't have any issue with using an older 4wd manual box, correct? I know I can't use the 2wd from 84, but the older ones should work, right? And sorry for grammatical and puncuational errors, I'm on my phone any time I'm on here. Trying to figure out how to put up pics from my phone. They will be up as soon as I figure it out.

As long as the truck isn't lifted/big tires it should work. Just be aware you have to steer while the truck is moving, it's hard as hell when the truck is sitting still. Even slowly moving helps.

Hey, thanks. I have owned several classic vehicles, so I am all too well aware of the steering difficulties that come along with manual steering. I was more worried about fitment issues, etc. Thank you guys for the help, I should have some pics up pretty soon.

Welcome Aboard Z. I feel your pain brutha. I used to be an Appliance/Electrnoics/Furniture delivery guy too. Hated the furniture part of it, but did mostly Appliances and Big Screens. I'm sure you and your coworkers have already made reference to it also, but our Motto Song was Money for Nothing !!! Cuz we did move refrigerators, and we did get many chicks for FREE. It's very convenient to hit on a chick when she's at home, and happy in a good mood cuz you're bringing in new stuff, so you're her hero for the moment. Makes it very easy to say, I have your phone # here on the delivery order, is this the # I call when I get off work and want to take you out for a drink??? Hell, many times, they'd just ask, what time do you get off? I have stuff for drinks here !!! KABAMM, home run right there. I'll see you about 10pm. Even had a chick once, I delivered a Queen matt set. She lays down, and says Ohhhhh this is so nice. Now all I need is a man to help me break it in. I said, I'll be off by 8pm tonight, go home grab a shower, I can be here by 9pm. She said, you can shower here, see you at 8:15. Loved the job !!!

Are you sure you have an NP203 Tcase?? I'm thinking more of an NP208. Not sure NP203 came behind a 700r4, or if there is even such an adapter. If so, quite uncommon combo.

I'd love to do a PS delete. I screwed up once when at Pull A Part. I found one and didn't get it that day. Went back about 2 weeks later the truck had been crushed. I've not seen another one since. Non power steering is really not all that bad. No leaking hoses to worry about, not pump to leak, not pump in the way or to deal with running headers for that spacer. And less parasitic hp loss. I just wanted 1 with the delete and it was gonna be the quick ride and likely even the Olds motor truck. That would be a set of brackets I wouldn't have to get too.

I've seen quite a few 2WDs with them and one 4WD with armstrong power steering at the local yard.
