Greetings,

Bought a "new" 1987 R10 yesterday. It has 90,000 miles and a whole slew of parts replaced. The body is in relatively good condition minus the bad repaint and missing tailgate (no dents, dings or visible rust). The truck starts right up and drives pretty good. Like most any vehicle this old, it does have a few minor things which needs attention.

For starters, I need to replace the cluster bulbs, re-align the headlights, buy parking lamp assy's, fix side marker lamps, replace window/vent seals and replace exhaust with something a little louder. Other than that, this truck is pretty complete.

I would ultimately like to see it repainted white w/ black interior or black with white interior, chrome accents and keep it as a dependable daily driver.

All in all, I think I did pretty good for 2 grand.

Here's some pics:

Welcome to GMSB !!! That does look to be in pretty good shape. 90K is real low mileage if that's original miles. Appears to be unmolested too.

Thanks!

I'd like to keep it that way, too. Other than the green skull handle for the gear selector and lack of tail gate, the truck is complete.

Like I said, I'd be happy with a repaint, updated interior and new exhaust. Just have some minor things to fix and she'll be good to go.

I do have a couple of q's: 1) the PO installed an aftermarket radio and the only way to turn it off is to remove face plate. Otherwise, it stays on with truck off. What is the best way to get the radio onto switched power? My second q, how do I loosen up the accelerator pedal? It's like I push and push then all of a sudden the truck comes alive. I had an '85 fleetside and the transition from idle to off idle was much smoother.

Thanks!

:welcome: glad you made it over!! I'm guessing with your radio that its not wires into ignition to get its power like it should be. It's probably wired into a constant power source of some sort.

Nice pickumup and welcome.
Look around on the fuse panel, there`ll be a connector for ACC which is accessories. Hook the radio into one of those.

thanks for the welcome. I'm getting ready to order the parkinglamp assy's from LMC since my truck doesn't have them. LMC offers a mounting nut, but no screws. Any clue as to what screw I need? Thanks!

Your grill looks aftermarket, if you order the parkinglight assy's you will need to fab your own mounting because the ones from LMC are for the stock grill. You could go this way. On the bottom of the page.

I've always had good luck with the OEM turn signal/park lights fitting in the aftermarket grills. Never been a problem, never had to fab anything.

Let me rephrase, looks to be a tube or billet grill so you will need to make your own mounting points.
