Welcome Dave. I recognize you from a few forums !!! I looked at your albums last night. You got some work to do. To bad your so far away, I at some point unless my plans change, I'm going to have a good 3/4 long bed frame. I intend to keep it though since I have a few 3/4 tons. I never did post up on those other forums about the 3/4 Burb I got. I just got the Title 42 paperwork back a couple days ago so I can have legal title in my name. Its listed in the under construciton secion 88 3/4 Suburbn.
Its hard to buy any used vehicle cheap anymore running or not running since the cash for clunkers.
Welcome to the site, are you on Fordifications?
Bud, its not cash for clunkers that did it really. Of course that depends too on what type of used vehicle you were wanting etc, but the biggest thing that has hurt cheap squares to buy cheap and rebuild is the cost of scrap car bodies is so high. That is why I am scrapping that 81. Friggin $190 a ton to scrap that dude. I assume it'll be 1 1/2 tons after I rob some parts off of it and get $300 going over the scale. Noway in hell could I get $300 for that truck selling it after I rob the parts off it I want. JMO, high scrap prices is what hurt cheap vehciles for restore projects and old parts trucks. Sure glad I had mine acquired already and I hate to scrap it since its going to go with some good parts, but who knows if I'll ever need them, and I don't have the space to keep storing parts.
Yes I'm on Fordifications
I think scrap is like 6.50-7.00 per 100 here.
