Hi Im lee, I got my 86 k5 about 2 months ago and have been reading up whenever I can since then. This site seems better than the others in because of the pic posts. I will start posting when I begin working on my rig. Until I am open to any and all opinions, comments. I will be doing a tune up first and would greatly appreciate any advice on tips and the most reliable replacement parts. In time I hope to redo the interior with newer seats for sure, new paint and streamlining an all stock k5 into a comfortable and capable truck. The pics are my daily driver

Welcome! Nice blazer man! Is it still all factory on the major stuff? On a stock setup, I'd just go back with AC Delco stuff on your tune up. I'm guessing most guys on here will probably agree. Well worth the 5% or 10% upcharge, if it's even that much.

cool, ok thank you. I think it is pretty well all stock. I cannot see if a body lift has been put on it but think something must have been put on in order to accommodate those the larger tires

Howdy! Looks like it's a 2-4 inch lift too, those front springs have a positive arch.

Positive arch = good. Look at a bone stock K10 and you'll see the front springs have an upward, or "negative" arch and a lot more likely to hit the bump stops.

Welcome to GMSB Lee. Now that is how an intro supposed to be. First post with Pics !!! Nice K5. Looks to be really straight. Paint looks maybe a little faded but still in good shape??? Not sure if it's just the pics.

Yes sir, the clear coat is gone. The paint is faded. All stock light spotty surface rust on top of the cab and a parts of frame, but nothing bad. I can go any way money and time allows as far as a resto. its kinda cool.

No doubt it's a great starter. As far as clear coat, I doubt it actually had clear coat back in those days. Late 80's or early 90's I think is when clear coat started on some vehicles. You might be suprised what some clay bar and wax do to that paint. If anything can bring the shine back, that would be the way to go. Lotso work though.

Yeah, to me its not worth it, I plan on a new color all together, my gf's dad has lots of buddies that paint cars and will be at cost when I finally decide and buy product. I am excited, I dont want to loose my head and go over board but I want something cool. the exterior is two tone blue and the interior is blue
