Well I've decided today that the emissions is coming off, gonna get a 750 stage 2 qjet from Smi, maybe a new intake and set of headers, she's spiratic after swapping back to the original air cleaner back ran fine went out warmed it up good and she started stumbling again, might even just do the egr delete replace what's left for vac lines, I don't wanna put a huge amount of cash into this motor atm as I wanna swap in a 454 or 427 tall deck

Have you done a compression check?
With the emissions removed, all you need is the vacuum for the trans, and the vac advance. Keep the pcv system to keep things clean under the hood.
Make sure the Vac advance is ran off of the passenger side port on the carb.
Here is a vac diagram from an 80, my manual does not go back to 79 for some reason. Sorry its a little blurry.

Make sure that nipple that broke off is not a vacuum leak.

It was a vac leak so plugged off the line and jb welded the broken nipple shut I thinking getting rid of it all will solve a few vac leaks that may be goin on I have good vacuum now everything seems to be working right gonna check the timing here soon aswell and.make sure its where its supposed to be as well as do a compression check like you said, the distributor could also use a freshing up the springs are rusted as well as the weights and the plastic bushings are shot, I have the Mr gasket kit to advance the timing a bit but read to run it with an adjustable vacuum advance

Ok finally got her figured I think, the accelerator pump is alright I think, the distributor was retarded as far as you could turn it, previous owner claimed to be a mechanic 0.0 now lets say the plugs were shot along with the coil cap rotor and wires should this truck have even ran??? Lol I advanced it a lil an now runs like a top or best yet, ill be setting it with a timing light once it warms up outside and clean the harmonic off

Before cats they were useless, yes, like on 67 289 powered mustangs, and the like.
All the other things do make a difference.

How so?

Yep, proper timing can make all the difference in the world.

It was really bad back firing through the Carb and stumbling to the point of stalling advanced the timing and its like a total diffrent truck now, I'm still kinda lost though as I thought that was the symptoms of two much advance? I dunno how the previous owner drove this truck loaded with a camper if he woulda figured **** out he coulda prolly got a lil more then I paid for the truck lol so far I'm about $1100 into it not counting the Eddie aircleaner and k&n so far its all new ignition from the rotor to plugs, new windshield, and a rear view mirror lol so can't complain I knew she needed work when I got her and always wanted a 73-80 3+3

The stock timing was usually set a 4* BTDC for most of the small block carbed trucks.
You should set the timing while in gear.
