its a different engine than the 396, which has a shorter deck.

The 366 is a truck (esp. dump trucks and school buses) specific engine produced from mid 60's till mid 90's.

It is a big block - actually an underbored, high-decked 427. It has 4 piston rings (reason for the increase block height).

Considered by many to be virtually indestrucable.

The parts you are looking for should be the same as what is used a stock 427.

Just found out that you should be able to match up with 454 as far as gaskets. I dout GM produced a specific distributor for it. so, parts for tune up should be a piece o cake.

um, the oldest is like gmc 68, then gmc 75, and then chevy 79. and the stock carb is so far shot. and would cost way more than the new carb.

Quadrajets?
I understand if you already have the edelbrock carb. They just farm trucks, or do they go out on the road?

yeah....the stock carbs are better economy, and reliability wise. Edelbrocks are smokey gas drinkers. Governer is a good idea with those engines.

All those parts are easy to find if you can get a parts guy to get off the damn computer and get the heavyduty books out. I loved getting parts for those trucks when i was working at Oreilly's. Its really easy to look them up since you know the years and all that.
