need 700r4 TV cable for 6.2?

the flex plate on my sons 87 blazer cracked, in addition to all 3 bellhousing bolts on the passenger side were missing. (Not sure if they fell out recently or were not installed by PO).

need less to say, when dropping the trans, looks like maybe the PO used a universal TV cable which used a barrel clamp to set the line length. In my search, I found part number 25515599 but its been discontinued.

Anyone know the appropriate cable these days since the GM number is no longer available?

You can try the aftermarket cables, but they are hit and miss. Or get good universal like Lokar.
I found 2 locations where it could be available, call them if it's really the GM cable.

If you havent already done so, call Bowtie Overdrives and ask them for a cable and bracket for your set up. You must have the correct bracket for your engine and induction application or you risk having insufficient line pressure rise in the trans due to poor cable geometry.

I put a message in, but havent heard from them yet.

It was shiftinig fine prior to pulling, but the kid couldnt figure out how to disconnect the little tear drop fitting, so he undid the barrel nut and pulled the cable out. I have managed to put it back to very close to how it was. How fickle is the proper length? Are we talking less than a 1/16 of an inch? Meaning, if the barrel nut was just slightly of from where it was seated previously, it that a significant adjustment to the tranny?

Also I notice there is what looks like a plastic vacuum line on top of this K case. I see no remnants of a vac line anywhere, so should that be capped or have a vac line running op to the vacuum pump on the basck of this thing?

what do your TV cable brackets look like?

ill try to get a picture, but its a bracket on the back of motor, square hole for cable housing to press fit into. there is about an 8" "rod" that goes from injection pump that the cable teardrop fitting attaches to.

That is the case breather. Usually has a hose and a miniature breather filter in case you drive through deep water. Front and rear drive axles use the same thing, hose and filter mounted up higher.

I will mention, many times the trans or transfer case do not have the hose and breather. They are already higher than the axles.

That is all the larger it needs to be. Slight pressure build as the trans cases heat up. Slight vacuum as it cools. On the transmission it also severs as an oil release if too much oil was installed, which is never good for an automatic trans.

There are a few TV cable / brackets currently on EBay for the 6.2L . The TV bracket and the rod that goes with it is basically unobtanium. When you can find them expect to pay dearly for them. The Cable is discontinued from GM there and there are 2 after market cables available , one from ATP part number Y-225 and one from Pioneer part number CA1933, the ATP one is an improved cable built the same way as the OEM one but with a heavier cable. The Cable it's self is longer in the ATP one but the ratio is correct. Not sure about the Pioneer one.
