I guess in some way, i really didnt want to face that reality. It costs more than just playing with bearings or whatever else.

And the axle shafts never crossed my mind until last night

I will look into axle shafts first tonight by simply jacking up the ass and putting it in drive.
If i see nothing, im to conclude its likely i have a permanently damaged gear set.

Guess i'll set those aside for a 1/2 ton mud truck

And install a new set, and keep my truck in a 100 mile radius of any lifts

I do like the theory of the bent axle shaft or tube. It seems plausible especially with the wop wop wop

Guess what i found out you freaks?!?!?!??!

    Its the driveshaft carrier bearing!

I jacked the back up with my gantry a bit ago, put it in drive, let it shift to 4th, and then i heard this GOD AWFUL noise coming from there.

    So there we go.

    BUT.
    Referring to this pic attached:
    (Pic 1)

The rear axle pinion bearing definitely did take some damage during the fall.

But that damage was fixed, and done, a month ago.

The noise i had been hearing following that was the carrier bearing.

    (Pic 2 )

Looking back.... now im extra extra extra sure my axlrle gears are set, AND, i have a yukon in the rear. Lol

Woo. What a relief. Now i dont look an idiot anymore!

I removed the shaft and spun the bearing after it was "warmed up" and it felt crunchy
