OK,
Finally made the time to pull my a-833 tranny(3-speed-overdrive). Looks like the pilot bearing is the source of the noise. It also looks like the fluid is normal gear oil? It's thick and certainly smells like normal gear oil to me.
I will rest my old bum for a while and then go and pull the bell housing and clutch. I am going to install a manual 3 speed.
I do not get why they put an A-833 in the truck when it has a 3:08 rear ratio? With the rear and the taller tires that are on it now I could do 65 mph in 2nd all day long.
Not a very around town gear ratio for me to use in my old man truck. I'll take the a-833 tranny and clean it up and store it away in 1 complete unit tranny, bell, and shifter Cool tranny and hard to find it just shouldn't have been in this truck if it had a 3:73 rear then it would work better for me
